CAASPP Assessments

Students in grades 3-6 will participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) during April and May, 2018.

District Office Summer Hours

The district office will be closed on July 4 and on Fridays from July 22 through August 3, with the exception that the office will be open on Friday, June 29, 2018.

Smarter Balanced Tests

The Smarter Balanced tests are expected to replaced the STAR tests in English-Language Arts and Math beginning in the 2014-15 school year. Practice tests are now available.

Cyber Safety Presentation

Officer Beth Lazarus of the Santa Barbara Police Department presented a Cyber Safety Parent Education Night on May 25 at Monte Vista School.

Negotiations With Certificated Employees

Update: HDTA negotiators Janis Spracher, Kelly Johnson, and Theana Earls, CTA representative Cindy Heller, and the District negotiation team of Board Member Dan Cunnison, Principal Barbara LaCorte, and Superintendent Anne Hubbard met on March 13, 2018, to discuss the 2018-19 Collective Bargaining Agreement. The teams created a Memorandum of Understanding that will be reviewed and voted on by the Board of Trustees at their meeting on April 9, 2018. The teams will meet again in the late summer or early fall to continue negotiations for 2018-19.

Local Educational Agency Plan Addendum

The Board of Trustees approved the Local Educational Agency Program Improvement Plan Addendum at their meeting on February 10, 2014.

Town Hall Meeting

A Town Hall Meeting was held on October 9, 2017. Topics discussed were district budget, class size, Smarter Balanced test scores, standards based report cards, an upcoming Board vacancy, the Hope School District Educational Foundation, and a potential parcel tax initiative.

Report Cards

The first report cards for the 2017-18 school year will be sent home soon. The report cards are a similar version of the standards-based report cards implemented last year, which reflect student progress towards meeting the main grade-level standards. An overview of the report card marks is provided in the following superintendent's letter.
